Case Study:
Usborne’s Noisy Wind Up Fire Engine Book
Having worked with Usborne Publishing to help develop the construction of this new children’s title and source the right components we were really thrilled to receive our final copy. This is the third in the hugely popular “wind up toy” series, each one with it’s own added play value!

Publishing News looked at the candidates for the Stora-Enso Design and Production Award including the first title in this series - Farmyard Tales Wind-Up Tractor Book:
"This wonderfully crafted book, featuring the gorgeous illustrative prowess of Stephen Cartwright, provides a mesmerizing blend of play and story telling. Just the engineering of this book makes it eligible for some kind of award, but the added charm of the illustrations and the stories make it an enthralling experience for the children and one in which they can take part. I wish adult books were this good!”

HH use recycled paper & materials where possible. HH recycle 400,000 tonnes of waste paper every year inc; 60,000 tonnes from our own plants. We also manufacture our own Kraft, liner papers and cartons made up of minimum 70% recycled content.minimise the impact on the environment.
Delivery
HH endeavour to shorten transportation time by producing at plants closest to our vendors. Recent studies show that shipping UK paper waste to China produced less Carbon Dioxide than sending them to UK landfill.

New Investor brings Capital and Expertise
To capture opportunities arising from continued consolidation within the industry, Hung Hing entered into an agreement with a new investor in April 2008. The new investor , Asia Packaging Company Ltd, is beneficially owned by investment funds advised by CVC Asia Pacific Ltd. CVC is one of the leading private equity firms in Asia, with a proven record of investing in high quality printing, paper and packaging companies and helping them develop to their full potential. The transaction was completed in early July 2008 and brings investment and industry expertise in the form of new directors to Hung Hing allowing the Group to further expand in the future.
This capital injection will put Hung Hing in a great position to capture any opportunity arising from the current ongoing industry consolidation. A recent article in the US Publishers Weekly magazine said…
"Despite rising prices, our customers particularly appreciate the unique spectrum of skills and services as well as the high quality and level of service that Hung Hing provide, something no single European printer can offer at any price. Further growth comes from customers whose previous Asian suppliers have closed down as a result of the ongoing industry consolidation and intensifying competition.”

What’s happening at MacLehose?
We were all very sorry to see Stephanie Calveley leave us in August for a well-deserved career break to be a full-time mum (is that a break?), but as always we have a strong team in place and Lee Alesbury has re-joined us heading up Sales. MacLehose are continually resourcing, to make sure all our customer’s requirements for working with Hung Hing in China are taken care of in the UK.
With Frankfurt just around the corner, please remember to let your sales contact know if you require a meeting and/or sales dummies.
