With six state of the art facilities in Hong Kong and China most of our customers know that Hung Hing Printing Group is one of the world's largest manufacturers of children's books, packaging and novelty paper products today. But since 2003 a steady investment in new technology has enabled Hung Hing to increase their conventional book making facilities. The group presently owns 47 presses, including 11 perfectors, state of the art CTP equipment and high speed binding lines.
We also have PEFC and FSC certification in place across the group so that we can work with our customers to support good forest management practice. The achievements of our superior quality are not only dependent on technology, but our experienced and skilled HH employees. With the combination of automatic conventional book production and manual hand-assembly, we can meet even the most complex of print specifications.
It's not going to be cheap after the credit crunch
After at least ten years of relatively stable pricing in the print industry, the beginning of 2008 saw a significant jump in paper prices. Printers increased their prices and the market was forced to adjust, however, the full effect of these increases has yet to filter all the way down the supply chain.
Now as we enter a recession where pressure on prices will reappear, we must accept there will not be a return to the old days. Whilst there may be some stability in paper prices, the wage increases in China will continue and the wild fluctuations in the currency markets only add to the printers risk. The Chinese print market is consolidating and only the strong will survive.
Companies such as Hung Hing are at the top of this list; Hung Hing's size and financial strength, considerably enhanced by the recent injection of capital following the introduction of CVC as a shareholder, offer long term security and reliability to the buyer. Whilst we will be competitive on price, we also need to be protecting margins, as this is the way forward for the continuation of reliable print services from China.
